Slow Cooker Applesauce

We like to get straight to the recipes around here, so you won’t find 15 paragraphs about my great aunt Gladys who always grew and picked her own apples in three feet of snow every July (or something like that, right?!) But I do want to say that this is one of our favorite fall recipes! It freezes well, so you can keep the left overs for a long time that way, it fills the house with such a lovely scent, and it’s beyond easy. Throw everything in the slow cooker and then go about your day! It’s yummy with ice cream, on oatmeal, and just on it’s own!

12-15 apples whatever variety you prefer (I used gala on this day)
2/3 C apple cider or juice (water is fine too if you don’t have cider on hand, just need some liquid)
1/2 C brown sugar
As much cinnamon as your heart desires. Go ahead and add more… I won’t tell! šŸ˜‰

Peel and slice your apples and add to the slow cooker, add apple cider, sugar and cinnamon if you choose, stir well. Allow to cook until soft. Mash up apples and serve however you like. Allow leftovers to cool before refrigerating. The longer you go the thicker and more delicious this gets, you can also cook it down until its basically an apple butter. YUM
